SATO Announces Launch Of Two New Lines Of Hand Labellers

The two hand labellers, KENDO and JUDO, packed with new features are set to take the market by storm.

SINGAPORE - August 30, 2005

SATO, a leader in data collection systems and labelling, and one of the pioneers in the development of hand held labellers, announced today the addition of two new product to its existing range of hand labellers.

While an established manufacturer of hand labellers, the move represents the company’s first major revamp of its hand labellers since the development of PB3 15 years ago. The two product lines are named after two well-known Japanese disciplines: Kendo, the martial art of fencing, and Judo, a sport and method of physical training similar to wrestling.

The two disciplines symbolise the will to win allied with respect of the spirit of fair play in all situations. They test both the body and the soul creating a perfect balance in one’s character. Both KENDO and JUDO epitomize the spirit of continuous improvement in constant pursuit of perfection, a reflection of the ideals of the disciplines they inspire themselves from.

The Kendo product line comprises three single-line hand labellers: Kendo 22P, Kendo 22 and Kendo 26. The three new JUDO hand labellers are all two-liners: Judo 22, Judo 23 and Judo 26. JUDO 23 has been especially designed for the Asian market and it supports the label size, 23 x 16 mm, and type, rectangular in shape, which are by now established standards making the label the most commonly used in this part of the world. Both product lines come in three exciting colours: red, black and purple. An overview of the main features:

Click-and-slide ink roller and new ink roller sponge and packaging. The new and improved ink roller sponge contributes to a higher quality printout. And with the new drop-in method of swapping ink-rollers, they can be replaced at a stroke without dirtying the hands.

Easy label loading. A new, more user-friendly and evident mechanism has replaced the old traditional feeding mechanism. And the clear open path to load the labels has been especially designed to avoid any cumbersomeness in loading the label. All the new products from the two lines work with both face-in & face-out label rolls.

Easy to maintain. The configuration of the new products makes it even easier to understand how they work. And with no pesky screws, each product is easy to take apart for easy maintenance. Also, SATO’s distributors have in place an established after-sales service to attend to all of the end-users’ queries and needs.

A clear and vivid printout. The clear font type – font size up to 5mm - combined with a high quality index band – the print band character width and band width have been widened – are other factors contributing to the now crisp printout. For the user’s benefit, the read depth distance is now closer making the characters more legible.

Light. The new KENDO and JUDO are among the lightest models on the market. A feature that is aimed at minimising the real danger of hand pain and fatigue from repetitive use.

Mr T. Waki, Managing Director of SATO International, said, “With the launch of KENDO and JUDO, SATO is upholding a tradition of innovation and excellence that dates back to the pioneering days of its development of one of the world’s first hand labellers.

The competition in the hand held labeller market segment has intensified over the past few years. In response to the needs of increasingly discerning users, SATO took steps to rethink and adapt our hand labeller product lines.

Every care has been taken in the design and each enhancement made with the customer in mind. Competitive pricing and a responsive customer service are in line with SATO’s objective to maximise value for our customers.”

The two exciting lines of hand labellers for the Asian market were launched to Distributors and Business Partners in Singapore, on the 26th August at Marriott Hotel.
