"A la carte" Food Labelling with SATO at IPACK-IMA 2006

Brussels, 21st December 2005 - For the first time at IPACK-IMA 2006, SATO, a global leader in barcode printing, labelling, and RFID, will be showcasing their solutions offering for the food industry - from product to pallet tracing, and from classical barcode to state-of-the-art RFID labelling solutions.

Universal RFID UHF Pallet Labelling

The star of the SATO stand will be the famous RFID pallet labelling system, FlagTagSolutions™, as employed by leading manufacturers, such as Nestle and Unilever.

SATO's automatic UHF pallet labelling solution with the UPM Rafsec FlagTag™ assures universal readability - irrespective of the point of application or pallet content - for virtually all shipping label applications in the market today! The FlagTag™ owes its perfect readability to the special architecture of the label, whereby the RFID antenna sticks out vertically like a flag.

Food Labelling with Automatic Weight Indication and Price Calculation

Another IPACK-IMA highlight will be the new stand-alone GTe4xxe printer. With the use of SATO Embedded Programming Language (SEMBL) and an easy-to-navigate menu, the GTe provides a simple solution for customised labelling. Especially suitable for the food industry, SATO's GTe can be directly connected to a weighing scale. The printer program captures the weight, calculates the corresponding price, and prints the barcode label to be pasted on the food packaging. As the data is sent directly to the printer, human errors are eliminated. The GTe allows for a cost effective labelling solution, as no software licence or PC are required.

Fresh Food Labelling

Meeting the manufacturers' need for EU-compliant food labelling (including product information, ingredients, best before date etc.), SATO introduces the compact standalone printer HT200e. With its small footprint and battery option, it can be used directly where it is needed – whether at a production line or a snack bar. Thanks to its integrated memory, no PC is necessary.

The HT offers a variety of user-friendly features, such as ready-made formats, automatic calculations and touch-of-a-button printing. Its integrated Real Time Clock (RTC) function allows the printer to automatically insert the correct date and time on the label. Employees simply choose the amount of labels they want to print per format. Everything else can be pre-programmed and automatically calculated by the HT. This makes SATO's innovative HT200e the perfect solution for on-demand fresh food labelling.

SATO will be delighted to serve visitors with à la carte labelling and traceability solutions at IPACK-IMA 2006 (Hall 2, Stand A83)!
